Met and spoke to.

I was in a group called 'Katch5' in the late 70s. We were once on the same bill as Ken Dodd. Chatted with him backstage - funny man. My other memorable meeting was with Prince (then) Charles when he came to The Old Courts a couple of years back. Me and some friends play there every Wednesday. Just jamming and having a laugh etc. We played for him as he was entering the building, then he came in and chatted with us all. He grins a lot you know.

Speaking of Doddy, I was in a band in the 1970s and we had to back him one night. It was hard work, normally with a comedian we play them on then leave the stage while they do their act and return to play them off at a pre-arranged signal. Doddy's act of course is interspersed with songs so we had to remain on stage for the duration.
He started at 9.45 and was supposed to finish at 11.30, we had already done one 30min spot. He is famous for overrunning and true to form didn't come off until 12.40. Half of the audience had left and we learned that it was chaos outside with taxis queueing up for the late leavers.
